Monday ... The day in which the base camp picks up and moves!

Today, we relocated our base camp from Grammie and Pa's house to Darcie and Christian's house (about 100 yards away). This seemed quite a daunting task, but with the help of my husband and his slave labor (Abigail and Darcie were put into service for about 10 minutes), the job went quickly.

We began our day at home with a nutritious breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes and fruit salad, followed by Troy's workout ...

I have a video to go here, but I think the file is too large ... so the picture will have to suffice for now. Troy walked back and forth through the house with all four kids hanging onto his ankles. Needless to say, there were giggles enjoyed all around!

Troy had to finally make a ground rule of only two children on each leg! I can't tell you how many times they went back and forth ... a grand time was had by all ... and Troy was quite pleased with the high quality workout that he received!

We also played outside on the bikes, helped Gabbie (the cat) slide down the slide onto the trampoline (needless to say, they only did this once!), made a fort with the extra board of wainscoting that they found under the trundle bed, had a Bible Lesson with Uncle Troy, enjoyed lunch fixed today by Uncle Troy, had naps and quiet time after lunch, played Wii with Uncle Troy and Uncle Hugh before dinner, and enjoyed hot dogs and Velveeta Shells and Cheese for dinner (w/ unsweetened applesauce, too, mom!). After dinner, we lined them up and hosed them off as they were all in need of a bath! :D Then, we watched Herbie Rides Again. It was a good and busy day at home.
Oh, I must mention the quote from Darcie yesterday ... speaking as she herself said, of that boy, who's name starts with "J", who's mom's name starts with "R" ... "He's loved me since June 21st." ... just thought you'd like to know that bit of information, Jennie! :)

  1. This sounds like a perfect day at home. Troy's workout compared to ours today. We climbed a mountain. It was a 4 mile round-trip hike to the top. It was pretty strenuous at times but the views were worth it by far. When you get to the top you have to climb up an outcropping of stone in order to get the best view. After a long climb we began our crawl to the summit at which point it began to pour down rain. The rocks were too slippery to climb safely. We turned around and walked back down the mountain in the rain. I discovered a few things today. 1. Umbrellas are way overrated, a little rain is really nice. 2. God made an amazing world. 3. The journey is usually as enjoyable as the destination. Life is good.
