Today was a fabulous field trip day. We took our field trips with our friends, the McNiel family. They were celebrating their son, Elijah's 11th birthday and invited us along. The day entailed going to Legoland (a first for all of us), eating a picnic lunch ... the weather was GREAT (the high today was 74 degrees!!), and then walking over to Science City where we have a membership (thanks to my thoughtful parents). Here are a few pictures from the day! I did miss pictures of quite a few things as I was holding sweet Tabitha and off nursing part of the time!
We learned a bit about how Lego bricks are made.
Step on the scale to see how many Lego bricks you weigh!
(Happy 4 month Birthday, Tabitha!)
We saw a miniature version of Kansas City built with Lego Bricks
This was AMAZING (probably my favorite part of Legoland). This included many recognizable buildings built in great detail plus (in honor of Kansas) a Wizard of Oz display. There were parts of the set that moved ... like the race cars at the Kansas Speedway, fountains that used real water, and even a time when it got dark and the buildings lit up for the night version!
There was a place to build and test your own Lego car.
The kids attended a workshop to learn about building lego towers to withstand earthquakes! They also had a fun indoor ride, a 4D theater, and a big indoor play place to climb around inside.
Picnic lunch by the fountains outside of Legoland.
Here are some pictures from Science City. We did more than what is pictured here. One advantage was that Science City is usually not open on Mondays and there was hardly anyone there! It was a very nice time!
So, from such a busy day (full of Legos), my kids were sick and tired of seeing Legos ... you'd think?? Nope! Here's what I found them doing after arriving back at home in the evening ...
