I had originally thought of painting the girls room a light pink or purple ... something that I knew they would enjoy. However, my perspective was altered by a story I heard while visiting Troy's family. They told of a family (I can't remember who it was) that painted their little girl's room lime green and pink. My instinctive reaction to that information was ... what were they thinking??? However, the story continued that the parents said that their daughter would only be a little girl once. This had an impact on me and caused me to think a little outside the box for the kids room.
We recently bought them new quilts / comforters (they chose different ones that coordinated) for their new room. Click Here to see Abigail's and here to see Elizabeth's. I decided to paint their room a green that would match the new bed coverings and then let the girls help me paint flowers and butterflies on the wall. They helped to choose the shades of color that we should get and I bought several colors in the little "test" cans. So, for the past few days, I have been working a little at a time to paint the room green. It was a little brighter than I expected, but we like it. The girls have enjoyed seeing it go up (in between helping to play with Jeremiah in the other bedroom). Part of it was dry today and ready for the flowers and butterflies. They were SO excited to get started. I'm excited that they are able to have a part in "fixing up the house" and that they are getting so much joy out of this experience. It is totally worth it! :)

As a little girl I always wanted to paint flowers on my walls but was never allowed! You are such a cool mom! I really looks great!
