Monday ... "Work on the house day"

Monday is the day that Troy has selected as his day off from working at the office. On Monday, we spent quite a bit of time at the new house. I find it challenging myself to get much done ... #1 because I am also in charge of three children ... but also #2 because I am not very handy and don't have high expectations of myself. I do want to help make this happen, though. So, Troy told me to "pick a job and own it"! So, I did a lot of measuring on Monday ... for blinds, flooring in the kitchen, etc. I also decided that I could take off the carpeting in the kitchen. Wow! What a great sense of accomplishment that was! Unfortunately, there is another layer or two of flooring under the carpet that needs to come up. However, the task has begun.

Kitchen ... with terribly dirty, greasy carpet ...

Kitchen with terribly dirty, dried-glue-decorated old linoleum ...

WOW! What an improvement! :D

Troy and Charlie (one of our elders) did a lot of work to get a gas line to the kitchen so we can put in a gas stove. We are so thankful to have Charlie's help and expertise on this little "project" we have!

Abigail and Elizabeth enjoyed playing with their new LEGO set that Troy had bought for them months ago (it was hidden away) in their new and rather spacious bedroom (at least it is spacious until we put the furniture in there!). :)

After all of that work, it was off to Sonic for Happy Hour! "Hurray," says Jeremiah!

"OUCH!" ... "Ice Cream Headache," says Troy!

Jeremiah enjoyed sharing my Strawberry Limeade ...
Elizabeth "plays Wii" at Sonic ...

Two helpers at Lowe's ... more supplies for the house ...

  1. Carpet in the kitchen? What were the previous owners thinking?!?! Way to go, Sarah :)
