Catch-up ... Thursday, May 28, 2009

Our trip to Kansas City went very well. We left Austonio, Texas early on Tuesday morning and got as far as Emporia, Kansas before we stopped for the night.

With only about 3 hours to go on Wednesday, we were able to take our time … shower and get baths at the motel as well as enjoying the Belgian waffles that the motel lobby had to offer. By the time we left the motel, Jeremiah was about ready for his morning nap, so we made quick time to the Kansas City area. We ate lunch and then went to the Children’s Museum of Kansas City for a little while. The highlights of the museum were the craft area which both girls loved and the LEGO exhibit. They did have some places where you could build with LEGO blocks, but more impressive was their large collection of amazing LEGO sculptures … including many underwater animals in amazing detail (I thought of you, Ethan and Caleb! You would have really been impressed by this!).

On Wednesday night, we worshipped with the Sugar Creek congregation. One of the members who has been teaching the Wednesday night adult class taught again. He is teaching about how to study the Bible and we had a good class. One of the elders did the devotional afterwards. When worship was over, the members of the congregation presented us with a HUGE amount of food, soaps, and other things that we would need for moving in to our new house! It was very thoughtful!!!

Thursday was move-in day. The truck, which was scheduled to arrive between 9:00-11:00 am did not arrive until 1:30. However, during the mean time, we accomplished a lot with our help that was there … putting up new blinds, putting in shelf paper, etc. We had a lot of help unloading and it was done quickly. One of the ladies provided lunch for everyone at our house which was wonderful! We like our house … especially the large, fenced back yard, the deck, the kitchen, the many windows, the lack of upstairs neighbors, the lack of so many of the neighborhood issues we had in Austin, and the stairs … the girls are quite excited to have a house with stairs! J

I know this entry has been rather lengthy. I haven’t been able to update in a while and wanted to let you know what was going on. Thank you again for reading. We are doing well and are very excited to be here and a part of the work going on in this area.
